SimaPro in Education

Teaching the concept of Life Cycle Thinking is important. That is why SimaPro is available at reduced prices for educational institutions. Already hundreds of universities worldwide use SimaPro in their courses -  making their contribution to a more sustainable world.

Advantages of SimaPro

 

With a user friendly tool such as SimaPro, you and your students can focus on the real issue; learning the concept of Life Cycle Assessment by doing it.

Students can quickly build product models with the handy LCA wizards in SimaPro and the powerful analytical tool gives direct insight in the origins of results. Furthermore, the students can document the project outline and observations in the convenient LCA Explorer.

SimaPro comes with extensive documentation, such as a practical Introduction to LCA and a tutorial to give hands-on experience.

The educational SimaPro versions have almost the same features as the professional versions. They come with extensive inventory databases and a range of impact assessment methods. Additional datasets, such as the ecoinvent database, are available.

Educational versions

 

For educational use, SimaPro 7 is available in three versions:

SimaPro 7 Classroom

The SimaPro 7 multi-user network version for up to 40 users. All students work in the same database, and can cooperate within the same project. Passwords and user rights can be assigned to the students. By logging in as manager, the lecturer can simply follow the progress of the students.

The functionality of this educational version is comparable with SimaPro Compact.

SimaPro 7 Faculty

The SimaPro 7 stand alone version that you can distribute to all students in your department or faculty.

The functionality of this educational version is comparable with SimaPro Compact.

The SimaPro Faculty licence is only available as a temporary licence for 6 or 12 months. After expiration, the software will run as demo version. Data in the database are kept as they were. Reregistering will revive the software.

SimaPro PhD

The advanced stand alone version for detailed analysis of LCA results. Apart from the normal functionality, you can apply Monte Carlo analysis, analyse results in greater detail, and use the process tree window. The PhD version also supports parameterised modelling and results analysis.

The functionality of this educational version is comparable with SimaPro Analyst.

How to order

 

To order a SimaPro licence simple fill in the educational order form.

A first year service contract is included in the price of all indefinite licences. This ensures you of regular database and software updates, support in the form of the helpdesk (phone, fax or email), and eligibility to join the SimaPro Internet User Group and Pira's LCA Network meetings. For temporary licences service is included for the licence period.

On the expiration date, a service contract is automatically renewed for another year. After receipt of your payment a new registration code will be sent to you. To renew, please use our service contract renewal form.

You can cancel the renewal in writing up to one month before the expiration date. Once you have cancelled, you can no longer renew your service contract to obtain the latest version. Instead, you will have to buy a new licence at 75% of the list price.

For temporary licences, the service contract is not automatically renewed.
